Mente e Cervello 2008

PREMIO MENTE E CERVELLO (Mind & Brain Prize) – 2008 EDITION
TORINO – OCTOBER 15, 2008

The Center for Cognitive Science of Torino will award the 2008 "Premio Mente e Cervello" to:

- Jon Kabat-Zinn, University of Massachusetts Medical School: for his pioneering role in promoting the multiple potentialities of human mind through mindfulness practices and integrating them into the clinical and scientific perspectives of Medicine and Cognitive Science.
- Giorgio Rezzonico, University of Milano Bicocca: For his relentless commitment to the development of services in favour of patients with severe mental disorders and his scientific and academic contribution to the constructivistic approach in cognitive psychotherapy
- Cavalieri Ottolenghi Foundation: for its fundamental support to basic and applied research in neurosciences and in the investigation of the psycho-biological basis of mental diseases.

The award ceremony will be held in Torino on October 15, 2008.
The Premio Mente e Cervello was established in 2003 and aims at honouring the most relevant researchers in the field of Cognitive Science, as well as persons whose generous support and sponsorship has contributed to the growth and development of the discipline.
In previous editions the Center for Cognitive Science awarded the prize to Michael Tomasello, Cristiano Castelfranchi, John R. Searle, Giovanni Liotti, Jerry A. Fodor, James L. McClelland, Philip Johnson-Laird, Domenico Parisi, Giacomo Rizzolatti and Carlo Umiltà.
